I'm not that old, but I can remember when a complete meal with an entree, soup or salad, soft drink and spumoni ice cream at the Old Spaghetti Factory cost eight bucks. Lunch, when I went with my mom before her shift at House of Adler, was just $5. Now a delicious time warp is turning those early food memories into reality for one night only.
This Thursday, Jan. 10, the home of mizithra cheese is celebrating 50 years by rolling back prices on its signature spaghetti sauce dinners to just $5. The two-choice Manager’s Favorite and the four-sauce sampler known as the Pot Pourri will cost $6 each. The prices include fresh sourdough bread, salad and a scoop of spumoni ice cream, making it one of the best deals you’ll se all year. And it’s only January!
If you're planning on bringing the family, keiki also get a deal: A spaghetti with sauce or mac and cheese entree with apple sauce, a drink and a scoop of spumoni are only $4. All this is dine-in only, dinner only.
I can already tell you that it will be a madhouse. Anniversary rollback prices are a tradition every five years at the Old Spaghetti Factory. I was at their Fullerton, California location for their 45th anniversary in 2014, when adult meals were $4 and $5. They drew a crowd crazy for carbs. You can't make a reservation after 3 p.m. so your best bet is to arrive early for dinner.
So will you be avoiding Aloha Tower Marketplace Thursday night or will you be reveling in nostalgia as you twirl up noods loaded with mizithra cheese and meat sauce? You know where I'll be!
