Honolulu Ekiden 2016

Driving from Sandy Beach to the top to Hanauma Bay takes your breath away. So does running from Sandy Beach to the top of Hanauma Bay. Well, running and walking, in my case. But not for the views.

I’m talking about yesterday’s Honolulu Ekiden 2016, a traditional Japanese relay race where teams of up to six compete on a course that started at Kapiolani Park, went to Sandy Beach, then circled back to Kapiolani Park to finish. I had the painful pleasure of running again this year as part of Team Awesome. You can look up our time on the Honolulu Ekiden website. (Hint: Mine is the slowest time.)

Check out scenes from the after race party at Kapiolani Park. The Honolulu Ekiden is an annual event open to the public.
