Let’s get this out of the way, this isn’t on the menu! But, if you ask for it, they will make it for you at any of the Goma Tei Ramen restaurants. It’s a version of their chicken cold noodles ($11.20), but instead of their shoyu sauce, it comes with chilled ginger scallion sauce. Cold ginger chicken is one of my staples during the summer, so what a genius idea to add delicious noodles!
When I crave something fresh, cool and light that won’t slow me down on the way to the beach, these are the ticket! The noods are so good – thicker and chewier than standard ramen, they're much like tsukemen noodles. The chicken is poached perfectly, clean and tender with none of that weird stringiness or grit some tend to exhibit. The sauce is just the right combo of ginger, scallion, salt and oil – it's balanced and flavorful. Sliced cucumbers come as a side, adding texture and elevating it with a fresh crunch factor. You can ask for the shoyu, but honestly there's no need to add anything to this winner winner chicken dinner.
