Kanpai! Even though Honolulu’s annual Joy of Sake event isn’t until August, the organization is hosting an evening of sake tasting on Tuesday, March 6, from 6-9 p.m. at The Tchin Tchin! Bar.
While you sip your sake, learn about the secrets and history of kimoto sake-making from Jun Kono, president of Sohomare Sake Brewery. Kono is considered a leader of the “kimoto renaissance” in Japan, and his sake company combines traditional methods with modern brewing techniques to create full-flavored, rich sakes.
Tickets cost $45 and include the sake tasting and appetizers. Lucky Belly will be serving up sake-friendly appetizers, which include:
Inari Cone Sushi
Oxtail Dumpling with Ramen Broth
