Waikiki Spam Jam 2013

Once again, tens of thousands will crowd along Kalakaua Avenue to feast on none other than Hawaii’s favorite luncheon meat. The 11th annual Waikiki Spam Jam happens Saturday, from 4 to 10 p.m., with live entertainment on two stages, and of course, dozens of vendors serving up creative Spam dishes. This year’s free street festival, which has been extended to Lewers St.,  also will benefit the Hawaii Foodbank.

Here’s a look at the Spam dishes on this year’s menu:

MAC 24/7 is new to the Spam Jam, and this is a great venue to introduce their new chef, James Aptakin. He's putting an exotic twist on his already exotic dishes. —Photo by Melissa Chang

The event I hate missing more than Eat the Street is Spam Jam!  Those Spam burgers from Mahaloha Burgers look so good!

Hello Melissa!,

I love spam anyway you make it.

It amazes me how chefs can make spam look like a delicacy - Hard Rock totally sells me with the ice cream.

Delicate Blossom:  Is there such a thing as a healthy spam dish?  I thought Alaska was big on SPAM.  OK...how did the unwanted mail and comments end up being called Spam?

@WERUreo And it's bigger this year! I tend to gravitate toward Duke's because I like that mushroom sauce. But it's all good....
