I didn’t get to take in many places on this last Maui overnighter, but I was so glad Dania Katz wanted to go to brunch at Market Fresh Bistro in Makawao. It’s an amazing little gem at the base of Haleakala that opened about two years ago.
The owners—Justin Pardo, David Magenheim, and Olivia Coletti—have made it their goal to use only the most local food available. Their dinner menu is about 95 percent locally grown/produced, and their breakfast and lunch menu is about 85 percent local.
All three owners are originally from New York and have known each other forever—literally, in Justin and Olivia’s case, since the two are siblings. (David is Olivia’s husband.) Here’s a quick little gallery of the place and what we ate.

Breakfast: Tuesday – Saturday: 9 – 11 a.m.
Lunch: Tuesday – Wednesday: 11:30 a.m. – 4 p.m., Thursday – Saturday: 11:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Dinner: Thursday – Saturday: 6 – 8:30 p.m.
Sunday Brunch: 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
