Hawaii: In Real Life ~ Tucker & Bevvy

Share Button

Tucker & Bevvy PreviewWaikiki beachgoers — locals as well as tourists — are familiar with the Australian-inspired take out place in the Park Shore Waikiki Hotel, Tucker & Bevvy. It’s known for its fresh, light fare, perfect for hot, sunny days.

What you may not know is it’s owned by a local girl — Cecily Ho Sergent — and her Aussie husband, Tony. They lived in Sydney for 17 years and ran Honolulu-themed restaurants there; now that they’re back in Hawaii, they’ve brought a taste of Australia, here.

Well, tomorrow, they’re opening a second location in the Hee Hing Plaza on Kapahulu Avenue. It’s also called Tucker & Bevvy (which is Aussie slang for “food and drink”). We got to chat with Cecily and her chef, Hoku, in an exclusive preview of the restaurant.

We also got to taste some of the anticipated popular items while talking more about the food, the concept, and the art. Yes, we actually bite into that massive burger! Visit HawaiiIRL.com to see more.

And, since Tucker and Bevvy is a social media client, I got to sit in on a couple of test runs. This isn’t a review, since I didn’t get to taste everything, but I did want to show you as many of the dishes as possible. Here’s what you can expect to find for breakfast:

Tucker & Bevvy Preview

I hope to try more things on the menu, especially the fresh juices. They may be expanding the menu, too, if locals take to the Australian flavors.

Delicate Blossom:  Are they planning to have Vegamite?  I got the the "Bevvy" part of the name because it is short for beverage.  But the "Tucker" part for fuud ...unless they chose not to use the "f".??

Wondering if there's any kind of Australian coffee or something different from the regular fare.

@koreankitkat but you'll be with friends, I hope! Then you can eat from each other's plates. For healthy, I like the kale salad with kabocha. Today we tried the chicken fried rice and the roast beef hash and those were delicious! The bacon is also awesome....I would get that on the side, no matter what.

@Annoddah_Dave I dunno how Aussies come up with their slang....when we went to Brisbane, I swear, they had more Chingrish than China! And yes, there is a big ol' jar of vegemite.....
