Several months after the initial announcement that the 64-year-old Liliha Bakery was creating a second location on Nimitz Highway, it’s finally open. Located in the old Sam Choy’s Breakfast, Lunch & Crab spot at 580 N. Nimitz Highway, the newly renovated venue opened its doors today.
There’s lots of free parking, and — more importantly — there’s more room to eat breakfast all day and stand in line for the iconic coco puffs. The hours, for now, will be 6 a.m. to midnight daily, although owner Peter Kim is considering staying open 24 hours on the weekends. The interior is all new, the kitchen is sparkling and open, and there are high chairs and tables for people who couldn’t dine at the Liliha counter before. Other than that, the classic recipes are all the same and you can get everything you’d normally order at Liliha Bakery on Kuakini Street, and more. (Probably the only thing that’s missing is 64 years of grease built up on the griddle.)
