WEEKEND FUUD: Angelo Pietro

Share Button

I’ve been to a lot of bridal showers. And yeah, sometimes they get a little redundant. We play the same games, dress the bride-to-be in wrapping paper, laugh about the same skimpy PJ set that we know the bride won’t wear.

But this weekend I went to a bridal shower where the food took center stage. And everyone there — including the bride — was all about it.

My girlfriend, Sydette, loves to bake. I mean, she gets excited about melamine bowls and covered muffin trays.

So we gathered at one of her favorite restaurants, Angelo Pietro, to celebrate her upcoming nuptials. Here’s what we ate:

Raw potato salad

To make it easy, we got the prix fixe menu. For $20, you get a cup of soup, a choice of entrees and this, the popular raw potato salad.

CAT,

Aaaiiiyyyaaahhh! Fuud Pix! Tenks! Wow, fuud pix on Sunday! Jes discovered it, AP has become sort of a staple type restaurant. Kind of like a place you would go if you ran out of ideas...still very palatable.

I must say that I liked Angelo Pietro better when it was next to the carwash across from the Blaisdell. Been to it a few times after it moved near Ala Moana center and it just didn't seem the same. I used to love the "Durkee" style fried onions they'd put on top of the pasta!

@MaxMaxMax That's right, some of the dishes used to come topped with Fried Onions. Then you always had to fight for the 5 or 6 parking stalls competing with the golf store next door.

I have to agree with you. When AP moved down towards Mahukona Street something changed in the recipe or cooking process. It just didn't seem the same anymore.

pietro's used to be one of my go-to places; not so any more bc i'm surrounded by carb-counters. loved the genovese, mixed mushroom in shoyu-butter broth, takana bacon, tarako. love eating spaghetti w/ chopsticks!
