A one-of-kind, gourmet luau experience under the stars. A smorgasbord of sweet and savory menu items made by notable chefs from around the state. It’s a recipe for a culinary evening unlike any other.

The annual “Roots Run Deep” fundraiser, hosted by the Les Dames d’Escoffier Hawaii Chapter, is coming up on Sunday, March 18, 2018 from 4-7 p.m. at Mari’s Gardens in Mililani (94-415 Makapipipi Street). Headlining the fundraiser is Chef Vivian Howard, star of PBS’ popular show “A Chef’s Life.”

Howard — who’s a Dame herself — will be joined by local Chef Ed Kenney, who, along with being a restauranteur, hosts his own PBS show called “Family Ingredients.” The dining event will feature Kenney and Howard, along with other members of the Hawaii chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier, including Lee Anne Wong, Michelle Karr-Ueoka and more. Proceeds from the event will benefit the organization’s “Dames who Donate” Scholarship fund.

The grazing-style event is luau-themed, with some of the menu items featured from Deep Run Roots, Howard’s critically acclaimed new cookbook. Limited quantities of the cookbook are available for pre-purchase when you buy event tickets online. Books can be picked up at signed by Howard at the event.

Event tickets — including VIP reserved seating tickets — are still available for purchase. General admission costs $150 and includes open seating and grazing stations, while VIP admission costs $200 and includes an exclusive wine selection, in addition to preferred garden seating.

This year's fundraiser will be held at Mari's Gardens.
