Modern soul artist Booker T Jones will headline the event with his distinctive bedrock grooves and contemporary R&B. It’s the first time he’ll be performing in Hawaii with a band. Throughout his career, Booker T and his bandmates created a special brand of soul, backing not only Otis Redding, but seminal recordings by Sam & Dave, Wilson Pickett and Albert King. Also performing at this year’s Hallowbaloo: Local artists Taimane Gardner, Mike Love, Tubby Love and Ron Artis II and Thunderstorm, North Shore siblings seen as one of the islands’ next big musical exports.
In past years, the Halloween fest has attracted more than 10,000 people annually to Chinatown. This year’s festivities will extend from Chinatown to HiSAM and surrounding streets. The main stage and epicenter of the street festival will be located on the HiSAM lawn. Two additional stages will be erected on Richards Street with food, beverage and vendor tents interspersed along both Richards Street and Hotel Street (between Alakea and Richards streets).
Trolley service will be provided down Hotel Street. And Club Hallowbaloo will provide access to multiple venues and a wide range of entertainment until 2 a.m. with the purchase of one festival wristband.
This year will also mark the debut of the HiSAM Hallowbaloo Ball, a haute Hallow’s celebration held inside the Hawaii State Art Museum (HiSAM) Sculpture Garden and 2nd Floor Courtyard. Along with entertainment and food from top Chinatown eateries Livestock Tavern, Grondin French-Latin Kitchen, Lucky Belly, J.J. Dolan’s, Smith & King’s and Wing Ice Cream Parlor), mixologists will shake up custom cocktails. 21 & oldr.

The Hallowbaloo “Marathon” is a 1.0 mile race to support local arts and culture nonprofits.
Register for the Hallowbaloo “Marathon” (costume parade/fun run) and receive a complimentary Club Hallowbaloo wristband providing access to Club Hallowbaloo and the street festival.
