Top 2014 summer trends – part 1

Barrio Vintage 3The runway giants have spoken, and the hottest summer trends for 2014 are in full effect. Fendi, Lanvin and Gucci are all about high-shine and iridescent shimmer.

Don’t just rest on florals this season, Christian Dior, Dolce & Gabbana and Burberry Prorsum have upped the edge with acid florals adding dimension and depth to an expected summer staple.

Other cool trends that are hot this summer: Grown-up crop tops, pastel and lace, tribal geometric shapes, mesh and neon. Also, black and white is still hot, and boyfriend jeans are back.

Fellow contributor, Tyson Joines joined me in styling some of the looks on models Leah Austin and Liz Polson of Wilhelmina Hawaii. The summer trends were pulled from three local retailers, The Butik and Barrio Vintage, plus Bamboo Sky with a sweet location shoot at Lin’s Hawaiian Snacks.
