Last November, I high-tailed it across the Pacific to Los Angeles for a dining experience I had been waiting my entire life for. No, it wasn’t a Michelin-star dinner or omakase by a famed sushi master. It was a meal featuring Gudetama, Sanrio’s lazy egg character who perfectly embodies my generation of millennials.
Well, Gudefam, have I got some egg-citing news! Gudetama is coming to Eggs ‘n Things.
Starting Friday, Sept. 30 and running through Oct. 28th, Gudetama will take over all three Hawaii locations of Eggs ‘n Things with two Gudetama-inspired menus.
Here’s your chance to get a taste of the lazy life.
The Sleepy Menu is $15 and includes a Gudetama hot chocolate or coffee with whipped cream, a loco moco with a fresh island Gudetama egg and bacon blanket, and a Gudetama pancake with lemon frosting, whipped cream, fresh strawberries and chocolate sauce.
Then there’s the Lazy Menu, which is $16 and includes a Gudetama iced coffee or iced cappuccino with whipped cream, a burger with Gudetama egg and french fries, and a Gudetama pancake with lemon frosting, whipped cream, fresh strawberries and chocolate sauce.
These dishes are available from the Gude-friendly hours of 12 noon and 4 p.m. until close respectively because nobody, especially Gudetama, is waking up early! A portion of proceeds will benefit the Japan Society’s Kumamoto Relief Fund for those affected by the April earthquake in Japan.
