The Hawaiian Islands Land Trust (HILT) had its 15th annual fundraiser at the Old Lahaina Luau last night, a sold-out community event featuring food, Ocean Vodka cocktails, a silent and live auction, and live entertainment headlined by John Cruz.
The community event raises funds to ensure special Hawaiian places, such as beaches, scenic vistas, farms, forests, cultural sites and even ranches statewide remain protected for current and future generations. The theme was Malama Kipuka, which loosely translates to “take care of the oasis.”
To date statewide, HILT has conserved about 20,000 acres in Hawaii, through perpetual conservation easements as well as fee simple ownership. Here’s a look at last night’s event.
