Opening day at Disney’s Aulani

Disney’s Aulani Resort and Spa in Ko Olina officially opened Monday, with Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse in attendance at the sunrise ceremony. The $800-million, Hawaiian-themed resort, which includes hotel rooms and time-share units, features a water slide, volcano, taro patch, four restaurants and a conference center. Hotel room rates start at just under $400 per night, with kamaaina rates running about 25 percent off the regular rates.
