HOTWith just a few more performances left before the conclusion of the 2015-2016 Opera Season themed Things Are Not As They Seem, HOT presents the return of one of opera’s most recognized composer’s, Giuseppe Verdi. “Il Travatore” is set in the Spanish Middle Ages and is a complex story of love and revenge. When her mother is unjustly sentenced to death, Azucena knows only vengeance. Meanwhile, star-crossed lovers Manrico and Leonora defend their union in this exciting story of mistaken identity. Originally premiering in January of 1853 at the Teatro Apollo, this production is elevated by intense passion, drama, and features some of opera’s best known melodies including the stirring Anvil Chorus.

This new production from HOT’s Artistic Team marks the first time in two decades since “Il Trovatore” was performed for Hawaii audiences. The Verdi HOT conclusion continues on June 26, when Hawaii’s Quinn Kelsey headlines a very special concert presentation of “Rigoletto.”
