This Friday, May 5 is big: It’s both Cinco de Mayo and Boys’ Day. Instead of choosing between holidays, we’re choosing to celebrate both! Our Awesome eats downtown lunch pop-up will feature sweet mochi from Fujiya and mouthwatering tamales from Wang Chung’s.
Fujiya’s special blue chi chi dango, made fresh at its Waiakamilo store, is a seriously good deal at $10.29 for a 15-piece box, available for pre-order. They’ll also have their rainbow Uacoco tropical fruity crisps ($7), a 10 oz. large container of tea cookies ($9) and an extra large tea cookie gift box ($25) for sale on Friday.
Wang Chung’s famous chicken tamales are not on the Waikiki karaoke lounge’s menu; the savory, labor-intensive bundles only appear for special events. Each six-pack will be $10.29 and come with a side of homemade salsa. These tamales sold out quickly the last time they were at Awesome eats, so be sure to get your pre-order in.
Since Awesome eats has been selling out, we recommend you pre-order to guarantee your goodies. Or you can take your chances and come to the corner of Bishop and King streets downtown this Friday, May 5, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
See you on Friday!
Don’t forget to bring your pre-order receipt (email OK) when you pick up! No refunds. Any items not picked up by 1 p.m. on the day of the event will be held at our office at 1000 Bishop St., Suite 909 until the end of day (5 p.m.) and then disposed of.
