New block, same Honolulu Night Market: Kakaako’s monthly streetfest moved into new digs this month, heading around the corner for a whole new change of scene. This time it was Cooke Street that was closed to traffic, from Pohukaina to Auahi (though we hear that might get extended, so future Night Markets take in Honolulu Beerworks brewpub as well). We’re talking about the warehouse-bracketed stretch running right past Fisher Hawaii — though it’s probably a safe bet you’ve never seen warehouses transformed like these.
Why the move? Night Market’s old haunts along Auahi and Keawe streets are getting a facelift, so the heart of the Kakaako street scene shifts. Saturday night’s crowds didn’t skip a beat. Thousands turned out for the food trucks, live art, pop-up retail. Swimwear fashion show by Issa de’ mar. And following the models on center stage, live performances by Yoza and Common Ground.
Nonstop’s Instagram contest came with a grand prize of a $100 gift certificate to Honolulu Beerworks. Congrats Jessica Koreyasu (@jessica_mika)(see her Instagram above)! Go have a blast — Beerworks has nine artisan brews on tap, all crafted right on the premises on Cooke Street, plus a growing menu of beer-friendly munchies.
