Video: Riding the food truck craze

Tonight’s Eat the Street Kaka’ako is Hawaii’s biggest leap into the nationwide phenomenon of food truck rallies. Up to 3,000 people are expected between 5-9 p.m. at 555 South St., a four-acre parking lot that’s hosting the event.

I had the chance to talk with a few local truck owners about the food truck craze and how Eat the Street is making an impact on not only their businesses, but the industry.

I see too many taco trucks out there no original ideal from food vendors trying copy each other, Soon customers will like other type of food out there than just taco. I for one had it with just taco trucks.. Something like noodle is good for it low cost to buy and make into many different dishes to sell yet no these vendors only of taco taco taco.

GREAT video! Seems the @the cafe truck portion was shot on the day I got the last frozen hot chocolate before @johngarcia got there. Almost feel bad about it not being featured in the video. Almost. :-P I'm thinking John got a slight bit of revenge by putting a picture of me in the video though, d'oh! Anyway hopefully soon I would like to check the scenes in other cities as well. See all of you tonight!

I would to see a Asian noodle truck serving all kind of noodle type dishes. Like fried saimin and pho ramen, fresh lumpia and jook also. It of course at price lower than rented space food business price. They have that in Taipei in food stalls. There too many meat type food already out there.

@Vick It's only a matter of time! They have ramen trucks on the mainland and they're a hit!

@Vick That so true. The problem is always one person like to try to follow another person business because it doing well rather than be different. I like the ideal of a Asian Noodle food truck and the jook and fresh lumpia sound so good too.
