Live from Spam Jam

Who loves ya, Spam? Judging from Saturday night’s Spam Jam, which took over nearly the entire length of Kalakaua Avenue through Waikiki, 25,000 of us do. Crowds were up from last year’s 20,000, with organizers expanding the festival by a full block.

Honolulu went nuts over its favorite processed preserved meat with culinary creations both savory and sweet from 15 restaurants, Spam swag, Spam photo ops and live music, all benefiting the Hawaii Foodbank. Here’s a look at six hours of all things Spam.

Spam Jam 2013

Kalakaua Avenue was Spam central Saturday night, thousands turning out to celebrate Hawaii's favorite processed meat. How many? Organizers estimate the count easily topped 25,000.

A Spam tweetup was held at Jimmy Buffett’s at the Beachcomber while the madness was going on. Attendees could sample the dishes being served at Spam Jam, and — what else? — Instagram, tweet and Facebook photos of them all.

Delicate Blossom, EO, MC:  neat pix...that's a lot of humanity in one place.  Does Hormel sponsor this thing? You would think the guys from corporate would be represented, or were they?
