Honolulu Night Market: Rogue Christmas

Jingle bells, red and green and plenty of popup Christmas shopping, art-themed and otherwise, took over our favorite stretch of Kakaako Saturday night. Honolulu Night Market: Rogue Christmas started with the end of the 5K Jingle Rock Run, which took runners, pets and strollers on a 5-kilometer route through Kaka‘ako, downtown and right back to Night Market as the sun set. Proceeds from entry fees went to Make-A-Wish Hawaii, which makes dreams come true for seriously ill keiki.

Here are highlights and a PSA for the future: Night Market takes a breather in January, then returns to the same stretch of Auahi Street in February. Repeat: No Night Market in January. See you all the third Saturday of February!

We asked participants of Make-a-Wish Hawaii’s Jingle Rock Run to submit photos of themselves and thus be eligible to win a $50 Hank’s Haute Dogs gift card. The photo here of the team supporting Xander, a 12-year-old who has battled Hodgkins lymphoma, is the winner of our contest. Thank you, Kari, for submitting it!

Nonstop’s Melissa Chang ran the 5k route, and in true social media diva style, snapped pics of fellow two- and four-legged runners along the way.
