Today kicks off National Ice Cream Month — an annual July celebration that began 30 years ago. Plus, with the weather being so muggy and hot, we figured we’d share our favorite ice cream flavors both here on the site and for today’s KHON morning show segment.
So here’s a roundup of ice cream faves from our Frolic crew.
Brian Watanabe: Dairy Queen
I love the Dairy Queen Dipped Cone. Why? Maybe it’s that first, embryonic, bite off the top before the chocolate hardens. Maybe it’s the race against time to finish that crumbling shell before soft serve drips all over your hand. Maybe it’s the cone, with that dollop of glue that always has a piece of wrapper stuck to it... but you eat it anyway.
It’s not quite chocolate (according to the FDA) and it’s not quite traditional ice cream, but it’s been a summertime favorite of mine since I was a kid. By the way, who else thought that if you drank that liquid dip it would form a chocolatey shell inside your stomach? Anyone? Nobody? Just me? Fair enough.
