Lee Anne Wong’s Mother’s Day Brunch

For as long as I can remember, Mother’s Day in the Shindo household always meant going out to dinner with the entire family. It’s mom’s special day where she doesn’t cook or clean and can relax with a wine cooler and couch surf until it was time to leave.

This year, my good friend Olena Heu suggested we surprise the special mothers in our lives with an early morning brunch at Taste in Kaka’ako. We arrived to find Auahi Street blocked off to traffic and transformed into a beautiful al fresco dining area. The meal that followed was the perfect gift for this Mother’s Day.
