Fat Kid Friday is a video series spotlighting exuberant dishes across Oahu. Crazy, ginormous or over-the-top luxe, these are the broke-the-mouth dishes we push across the table and tell our friends, “Try this. TRY IT.”
Knowing the way Piggy Smalls operates, this video could have been obsolete if they changed their menu as often as their Chinatown brother. Luckily for us fat kids, the dinner-only Pho-strami Burger is destined to be a menu mainstay. The chef, Brandon Lee, also happens to be the original fat kid and creator of this series.
The unctuous flavor of beef permeates the entire burger, much in part due to the bacon (the crispiest bacon I’ve ever had, by the way) happens to be beef. It’s finished off with a slice of sweet and soft charred onion, whole mustard seed and awesome sauce. With every bite, my eyes roll back into my head in total ecstasy. Though it’s something I couldn’t eat every day, the Pho-strami Burger is truly is worth every penny of its $18 price tag.
