Remember when we talked about breakfast beers a few weeks ago? Well, this event takes this to another level.
Four beers from Golden Road Brewing of Los Angeles will be paired with four different doughnuts made by Regal Bakery. Along with the Wolf Mother 3X IPA (which has been on tap at Village before), three brand new Golden Road beers will be tapped: Palisades Pineapple, a refreshing American Wheat beer infused with pineapple and complemented by tasty apricots; Hollywood Blonde, a light, refreshing Belgian-style ale with hints of passion fruit and peach; and Sunset Coffee, an Oatmeal Milk Stout made with Portola Coffee Labs’ Alchemistic coffee for a medium-bodied, roasty and chocolatey taste with a smooth finish.
Doughnuts will be served starting at 5 p.m. and are free with the purchase of a beer, while supplies last. So in case you’ve been wondering what doughnut to have with your beer:
- Blueberry with Hollywood Blondie
- Vanilla Glaze with Pineapple Palisades
- Oreo Crunch with Coffee Porter
- Coconut with Wolf Mother
You can’t call yourself a beer drinker if you’ve never had a coffee beer with a doughnut. Right?
Lagunitas Bar Crawl

Real a Gastropub and Brew’d will be pouring guest beers from Lagunitas, with a free shuttle so you can go between the two bars to try them all. The big pour of the night is the Waldo’s Special Ale, a beer released each year on or around April 20 (for an explanation, google “waldo 420”). Described on the brewery’s website as “pairing well with beer-battered Twinkies Con Queso,” it’s a botanical triple IPA at 11.9% ABV. So take advantage of the shuttle and make plans to be driven home, too.
Hawaiian Craft Brewers Guild SALT Bar Crawl

This month’s SALT Bar Crawl is all about supporting the Hawaiian Craft Brewer’s Guild. Look for a total of 20 locally brewed beers from Hawaii Nui Brewing, Mehana Brewing, Big Island Brewhaus, Maui Brewing Co., Koholā Brewery, Stewbum & Stonewall Brewing Co., Lanikai Brewing Co., Waikiki Brewing Co., Honolulu Beerworks, Home of the Brave Brewing Co., Kauai Beer Co. and Kauai Island Brewery and Grill. There will be live entertainment in the courtyard, and brewery representatives will be available to chat and explain their beers in the Guild tent from 5 – 11 p.m.

Overlooking Waikiki Beach at sunset, Brews by the Beach will feature Maui Brewing Co., Ballast Point Brewing Co., Aloha Beer Co. and Sierra Nevada. Each brewery will have their own tent beside the pool and pour unlimited samples for attendees. There will be live music and pupus. A portion of the proceeds will benefit local wounded veterans.
Firestone Walker Barrelworks & Libertine Sour Symposium

If you’re a fan of sour beers, you won’t want to miss this event. Sours from Firestone Walker’s Barrelworks and Libertine Brewing Company of San Luis Obispo, California will be on tap, paired with insight from Barrelworks’ master blender Jim Crooks and Libertine founder Tyler Clark, who will be hanging to share their knowledge of sour beer. If you’re not familiar and are on the prowl for a new style, this will be a great introduction.

Steve Anderson, senior brewer and barrel aging director of San Diego’s Ballast Point, will host a beer-pairing dinner at Real a Gastropub. Pairing dinners are a great way to dive deeper into beer styles and learn more about how their flavors can complement different types of foods.
