The Republik, together with several of the biggest names in promotion on Oahu threw a night to remember the epic parties and concerts that used to happen at Pipeline Cafe, now the BJ Penn UFC Gym. Pipeline, perhaps the last venue that could honestly be called a “megaclub,” closed down in 2011 after more than a decade of rocking Honolulu’s party people. The reunion included MC Rick Rock on the mic, former Pipeline DJs Mike D, Wu Chang and Twix spinning hip-hop and hits, prize giveaways and more for the crowd. Spotted were a lot of familiar faces from Pipeline, including Pipeline general manager Jed Roa, staff members, many of the promoters who used to throw events there, and a lot of the regulars.
