New Zealand dance/comedy trio JGeeks, sometimes described as the new “metro-Maori electro craze,” headlined two shows at Republik on Saturday evening; an all-ages show and one for 18+. They were joined for the late show by reggae band Inoa’ole, back from an eight-year hiatus, plus New Zealand singer Pieter T and DJ Hapa Boy. For their final set just before closing time, JGeeks, dressed in Maori loincloths and body paint, pulled out all the stops with a crazy show that had the mostly female crowd screaming. Their act included traditional Maori haka, salsa, robotic dance, breakdancing and other crazy stunts. Take a look!
Here’s a short video clip of part of JGeeks’ performance; please forgive the sound quality.
