Auahi Street hosted a mini block party Thursday night as a benefit for 808 Urban, with friends, students and fans of founder and creative powerhouse John “Prime” Hina’s work (“Water Writes” mural at Honolulu Community College, the Warriors mural by BJ Penn’s UFC gym and countless other murals around Hawaii) gathered in Kakaako to throw a celebration for one of the coolest, most hardworking men in the local urban art scene. The festivities included live music and an emcee, food trucks, a silent art auction, a roast and blank canvases set up around the area where anyone could work. The event was sponsored by Na Mea Gallery, II Gallery, The Green House, R/D, Street Grindz, Loft in Space, Pow Wow Hawaii, the Estria Foundation and 808 Urban.
