New Year’s with a new dress

New Year’s Day is a couple of days away, and for me, that means a couple of things. Not only do I get together with my families and friends to reminisce about the past year, but I also go shopping for a New Year’s Eve dress. Yes, shopping!

It has become one of my end-of-the-year traditions for quite some time now. To me, a New Year’s Eve dress has to complement you (whether it’s your body type or personality), and be flashy and bright. New Year’s dresses also have to have some glitz and sparkle in order to ring in the year right.

Some people bring in the new year by pounding mochi. My Filipino family gathers 12 round fruits to sit at our New Year’s Eve dinner for prosperity. Some make resolutions, but I ring in New Year’s with a new attitude, perspective and all in a new dress.

What are you looking forward to in 2011? What are your New Year’s traditions?

Check out some of the cute New Year’s outfits I spotted at Ala Moana.

here's a true pinay story for you: i'm at Anna Millers' with a bunch of people. two women start talking about another woman who only one of them knows. M. Panimdim asks D.Transfiguration- "is she pretty?" D says: "well, she's Filipino!"
