Dior’s new Waikiki boutique, which held its opening Thursday night, lived up to the label’s reputation for elegance, luxury and beauty. On display — Dior’s 2014 Cruise collection with an obvious influence of the Monte Carlo resort lifestyle. The collection features vibrant shades of royal blue, persimmon and my new favorite color this season, hombre hues. Standout accessories include the Lady Dior ostrich handbag, Lady Dior python and calfskin handbag, Diorissimo hombre blue and teal handbag, reverse comma suede shoe, persimmon and creme hombre heels, and Miss Dior lambskin bag (worn by actress Jennifer Lawrence).
A little history about Dior: Legendary fashion designer Christian Dior was born in the French seaside town of Granville in 1905. In 1947, Dior impacted the Paris fashion scene with designs that surpassed wartime restrictions and reintroduced a femininity into women’s fashion. During his reign, the New Look was a phrase coined to describe his dresses that flared from the waist and presented a curvaceous silhouette. His designs have been worn, and continue to be worn by actresses, celebs and modern day royals.
The Dior Boutique is at T Galleria by DFS, 222 Kalakaua Ave.
