The Royal Hawaiian Hotel on Friday was the epic back drop of the second annual Hawaiian May runway collection. It was a semi-public outdoor fashion show facing the beach, with a large crowd perched on the sand to watch the Japanese models featured in the show. Their fervor for models Nicole Ishida and Yuri Ebihara for instance, is comparable to what local’s reactions might be to seeing top models Gisele Bundchen or Karlie Kloss on the runway.
More than a dozen local models were featured in the show. Some were asked to return after a successful appearance in last year’s show.
Now, to the collections, it was great to see looks highlighted by local designers such as MB by Matt Bruening, Issa de’ mar, Fighting Eel, Mu’umu’u Heaven, plus Tiare Hawaii and Gillia selected and styled by Aloha Aina Boutique. Other collections featured were from Pualani Hawaii, Muse by Rimo, Unibazar, San Lorenzo Bikinis, The Collection Eyes, 88 tees, Samantha Thavasa and Angels by the Sea.
